Saturday the weather was good, enabling Billie and Morne to climb to 580m ATO before leaving the mountain and to glide 5km before finding the next thermal bubble. This bubble didn't impress Billie as he only climbed 50m for the seven times that he circled in and out of such a small thermal, so he notified Morne that he was heading out for the next promising trigger point. He was mistaken as the trigger didn't work so he flew along the forest line sinking out lower and lower in search of something better, only to find a small consistent bubble at the end of the field which eventually turned into a thermal which took him up to 819m ATO, what a sight and feeling to be able to thermal up above to above the cloud base! Morne then joined Billie in glide and search for another thermal, only to land 15.1km from takeoff. Never the less, fantastic views, a low save and a flight to remember! Sunday the weather was similar enabling Morne to again leave Dumbe to complete a 31,5km flight in 2,5hours with maximum height of 917 ATO, while the rest of us bottomed landed. –Well done Morne, wish we all could have joined you! We rushed up the mountain to have a second chance, this time Billie managed to have a short scenic flight over PaulPietersburg while only getting to 250m ATO in the thermals over the flat lands and to complete a 6.5km flight. After all the cross country flights a fantastic valley release was enjoyed by all.
